To Replenish.
The first commandment God gave to those creatures he created was to multiply and replenish the earth.
Has this commandment somehow ceased to be?
In the 1995 Proclamation to the World regarding the family it states "the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children...[and] we declare that God’s commandment for His children to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force".
God's word has not ceased to be.
What does The Family: A Proclamation to the World also say?
- Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God.
- The family is central to the Creator’s plan.
- All human beings—male and female—are created in the image of God...each has a divine nature and destiny.
- Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.
- The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave.
- God’s commandment for His children to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force.
- The sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.
- We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God’s eternal plan.
- Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children.
- Husbands and wives—mothers and fathers—will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations.
- Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan.
- Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity.
- Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities.
- By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families.
- Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners.
- Individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God.
- Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets.
There are some within the church who claim that this proclamation somehow no longer applies and I am left dumbfounded by and disappointed in many who continue to trample upon this document and the words of God.
In 1995, the things happening today weren't even in the forefront of anyone's mind except prophets, seers and revelators. Now in 2020, a culmination year, we see people thinking they can choose their gender. People think marriage is no longer a sacred institution between a man and woman.
What did it say is the result of our trampling upon the sacred institution of marriage, gender, and family? The calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets ie the judgments of God.
Satan, the great deceiver and ever the petulant child, continues to try and frustrate the plan of God. His is an eternal anger and jealousy that will never cease. He sought to destroy our agency in the pre existence and he hasn't stopped. Agency is much more than the right to choose. It is our eternal individual power. The power to act and not be acted upon. We can be tempted sure but that does not take away our agency. It is still within our power to act.
Anyway, I digress a little.
When I saw the ad above, I was saddened, frustrated but not surprised. It makes sense, if we remember who is behind it. He whispers in people's ears that human beings are a plague upon the Earth. They do not understand that the Earth was created solely for the purpose of serving as a home away from home for the children of God to dwell in our temporal existence. If that plan is frustrated, the Earth has no purpose.
The unrest in the streets, the unrest in the Earth are both the results of wickedness running unchecked.
We reap what we sow.
Our saving grace can only be found upon the "teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ", in exercising "the principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion and work...".
